Portman Lighthouse

In 1860 is given the order of the construction of a lighthouse of type 5º in Portman. Because in this location was planned in turn to build coastal defenses. In July of 1862 a commission was created to study the design of both constructions in a coordinated way. The lighthouse is built on the ruins of the Tower of San Gil (defense tower, 1596), reusing some of the materials of the same. It finally comes into operation on January 31, 1865, exactly the same day it does The lighthouse of Cabo de Palos.
